Plot: An Overview

Plot is thought to be the most important element of any drama or fiction. That is why Aristotle called it "the sense of tragedy". he defined six elements of tragedy in his 'Poetics' and put plot at the place of utmost importance and said that a play can be imagined without characters but not without plot. Plot refers to the arrangement of events in a story. To understand the development of plot, the German philosopher, Freytag proposed a pyramid that makes understanding of plot development easier.
